The
river is projected to crest in Keokuk on Thursday afternoon at 27.4 feet, just
under the record of 27.6 feet.

Sandbagging and levee building efforts continue in southeastern Iowa. National guard troops are working in Des Moines and Lee counties to build up levees to protect key infrastructure. Iowa Governor Culver will be visiting Des Moines, Ottumwa, Keokuk, Burlington, and Columbus Junction today. They will have a press conference at some time to update. His schedule is available here.
The Iowa River is receding today but the Mississippi River has yet to crest. More details to come after the governor’s press conference.
